“Unrealistic picture”

Courtney Ryan is a YouTuber who specializes in dating/relationships and men’s fashion. We saw a snippet of her video and believed it would be best to watch the full video. This is going to be quite a different post because we will go according to the questions asked and summarize the answer.

Dating age range

From quite a handful of the women interviewed it would seem that at the very least a three to four-year gap is a good starting point. Women look at maturity a lot more. 

Contribution to the family income

Most of the ladies mentioned that they would prefer to be either stay-at-home moms or to contribute less than 50%. Only two wanted to contribute equal shares and one of that two is willing to contribute a maximum of a whopping 70%.

When talking about income, everything almost started sounding unrealistic based on the available statistics. Also, the previous comments on contribution to the family income became more about the partner supplying and being the one who earns the amount mentioned as a minimum while the individual is not earning that at all.

The stats

There seems to be a gross overestimation of how much each participant’s prospective partner would be able to earn. Most estimations were about 50% off. This begs the question “Are my expectations realistic?”.
When involving someone outside you must always remember that life is not an Instagram reel. Life…is real. There are many factors that determine the earnings of an individual including socio-economic issues, education and growth within a given company.

Having these expectations of others is good however if you yourself do not meet those very requirements, should you be demanding them of others?

The reactions

Most of the participants were shocked by the actual statistics provided by the present. This made them question whether or not they were being realistic or idealistic. Our hearts sank as well because it enlightened the team about how completely flawed our grasp of reality was.

Compromises 

Participants generally stated that it is okay to marry someone earning less. Only as long as they do not bring in more debt than what you currently have

There seems to be a misconception that high-earning men would desire to be with women that are not educated and do not have opinions. That is far from the truth as expressed by many. 

Men love to be with someone who respects them as well as cares for them and has her own opinions and ideas and is goal-oriented. However in order to have a traditional man, it is essential to be a traditional woman so that your ideals may align.

Should you want something different, that is fine and that also probably has its own set of rules. However, abusive domineering, and inconsiderate partners are an absolute no-no from both sides.
