“You just don’t expect it to happen to you”

At approximately 1:30 AM, a couple in Idaho Falls arrive at their apartment exhausted after having a day experiencing an escape room. Caspian and Isabelle did not have any idea that they would be involved in their own sordid version of an escape room. In this full video, Caspian’s fiance (Isabelle) watches her husband fight off a burglar in sheer terror.

Set the scene
While scrolling through her phone as a documentary plays in the background, the couple hears a large banging sound of the door opening. Isabelle stated that she was unsure of what exactly was going on but it didn’t really seem to be too alarming as the couple has roommates that come in and out of their apartment at all hours of the night.

However, this night was very much different. As Caspian walks towards the staircase to investigate the unusual noise, he is greeted by a masked marauder holding a supposedly loaded shotgun which is pointed right at him.

Wrong House Buster

After being instructed to sit down…which is actually a bit kind because of how tired the couple was. It got a bit colder in the room as the invader pointed the shotgun at Isabelle.
Caspian did the exact opposite of taking a seat. Observing the video, his instincts of fight or flight instantly kicked in and he carpe diemed the shotgun in order to wrestle it out of the invaders’ hands. He stated that at that very moment, he wasn’t going to let go of the shotgun and it was all pure adrenalin coursing through him.

In an obviously terrified state, Isabelle couldn’t help but look on while Caspian was holding on for dear life, during the struggle he barks an order…not at his fiance but actually for his roommates so that they could assist him in this sticky situation. 

While holding on, Caspian is dragged down the stairs still holding onto the shotgun. He slips as it was quite icy. The masked burglar learned pretty quickly that he had the wrong house As Caspian yelled out “wrong house buster”. As soon as the intruder and Caspian were out of sight, Isabelle rushed over to the other room to call 911 and helped the best she could at that point.

He immediately disarms the man, runs up to his apartment, and assumes a defensive position while being armed with his attacker’s weapon. A few moments go by and the burglar brazenly comes back to the apartment, bangs the door, and asks for his weapon back…The nerve. He tries to force his way in and with a booming voice Caspian yells out “Out of my house”. He’s a man of few words but knows exactly how to get his point across, a great communicator if you will.

The suspect ended up fleeing the scene with fewer items than he first had when he initially arrived. Took a gamble and lost big time because the police were not far off from where he was. He was intercepted by his car by the police while trying to make his daring escape.

The Relief
After the whole incident, Caspian ended up puking probably because of how heightened his senses were during the experience. His fiance mentioned that she fulls extra safe because she got to see her man fight off an armed intruder and is now certain without a doubt that he will protect her no matter what. They did end up getting married and tried moving on together. It took Isabelle a while to sleep without having the sense of paranoia that a new intruder might be lurking in the shadows.
Honestly, if they keep their doors locked they should be fine because that’s basically how the burglar was able to get in the first time
